| HD-DVD Hacked! |
 |
It was bound to happen, almost inevitable,
but HD-DVD has been hacked. No sign of
DVD-Jon this time though :)
HD-DVD uses an encryption system called AACS
which stands for Advanced Access Content
System, basically it is a system that
restricts the devices that can play the
discs.
But a Canadian hacker going by the name of
Muslix64 has cracked it. A video of the
software being used to extract Warner
Brothers war epic Full Metal Jacked was
posted on youtube but Warner Brothers has had
it removed already, somebodys obviously very
scared! What did they expect though? Nothing
is uncrackable, they have probably a thousand
people working on protecting a device,
compare this to the hundreds of thousands of
people who are attempting the crack it!
This version of the video has the copyright
infringing section pixelated out and the
audio muted, so the powers that be shouldnt
remove this one!

What Is Bluetooth Technology?
Bluetooh tehcnology is a short-range wireless
radio technology that allows electronic
devices to connect to one another. Bluetooth
is surrounds us in our
everyday life as it is present in our
computers, cell phones, PDAs and also in some
printers.
How did This peculiar name "Bluetooth" arise?
The term "Bluetooth" was simply used as a
code name in the beginning until its users
got used to it. However the word "Bluetooth
originally came from
the family name of a Danish King called
Harald Bluetooth, he was an influential
figure in uniting Scandinavian Europe. The
reason why this name fitted
was because Bluetooth Technology began in
Scandinavia and because it wass able to unite
different industries
Why Has Bluetooth Technology Become Greatly
Favoured Nowadays?
Firstly, The Bluetooth's short-range wirless
radio waves disccussed earlier act like
cables. The cables used to connect a computer
to a mouse, keyboard or
even a printer can all be raplaced by
Bluetooth technology. This replacement
provides efficency at home or at the
workplace since the troubles of getting
the cables tangles and not knowing which
cable goes where are all solved. It can be
also called a cable-replacement technology
Who Are The StakeHolders of Bluetooth
Technology?
The Genesis of Bluetooth technology can be
traced back to the company 'Ericsson.' Later
on a plethora of electronic manafacturers
collaborated to improve
this technology. Microsoft, Ericsson, IBM,
Intel, Agere, Motorola, Nokia, and Toshiba
where the stakeholders of this technology
that joined together to form
the Bluetooth Special Intrest Group (SIG).
What Is The IT Background Of Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a small radio chip that can be
embedded into computers, cell phones, etc.
This bluetooth chip then takes the
informtation that is normally
carried by cables and transmits it at a
special frequency to a reciever Bluetooth
chip.
What Are The Ethical Issues To Be Considered?
Bluetooth technology, like others, faces
security threats. It is true, hackers can
break into bluetooth-enabled devices, however
the good news is: it isn't so easy. Bluetooth
security relies on the short distance between
two paired devices and their PIN code.
According to the SIG, a hacker must
Force two paired Bluetooth devices to break
their connection
Steal the packets used to resend the PIN,
then
Decode the PIN Tags : Amr Khalifa Ismail Mahklouf IB ITGS SL Sudha Sunder Universal American School UAS World Goes Wirless Bluetooth computer electronics gadget |
