An often overlooked genius scene of the great
Peter Sellers, in the somewhat cock-eyed
masterpiece of Stanley Kubrick's Dr.
Strangelove. Tags :PeterSellersKubrickStrangelove
Short clip from Stanley Kubrick's Dr.
Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), where the
USA President (by Peter Sellers) has a
conversation with the Russian president in

Captain Mandrake (Peter Sellers) learns from
General Ripper (Sterling Hayden) that the
United States isn't under attack by the
Russians, but that Ripper has sent a wing of
his bomber command to drop nuclear bombs on
the Soviet Union. Kubrick's brilliant
1964black comedy is acclaimed not only for
its incredible performances by sellers (three
characters), and the entire cast, but the
classic lines and remarkable film work. In
this scene the first three minutes are one
long shot over the shoulder of Ripper. Only
actors as powerful as Sellers and Hayden
could hold such a shot for so long and not
lose the impact of the scene. Remarkable! Tags :DrStrangeloveStanleyKubrickSterlingHaydenPeterSellers
