| I Have to Deal with Stereotypes |

This is a Feel-Good and Hilarious rant about
stereotypes. i have problems with stereotypes
on a day-to-day basis so i decided to talk
about it.
Edit: oh, and a lot of people have been
leaving comments telling me a certain
stereotype they have to deal with. don't be
afraid to post a video response telling
people how YOU have to deal with stereotypes
as well.

Every race, ethnicity, creed, gender,
lifestyle, etc has it's stereotypes.
Gay interior decorators, Chinese laundry,
Hispanic gardeners, Irish cops, Italian
gangsters, etc...
This film merely provides a brief look at how
blacks have been portrayed in the past.
These images are just a small sampling of how
black people have been portrayed on a daily
basis for many, many years.
All of the clips used in this film were shown
on television up until the 1980's.
Many episodes of the Little Rascals have been
"ethnically cleansed" over the years.
Some 20 minute episodes were edited down to a
mere 8 after removing all racial
images/slurs.
Several episodes were removed completely from
the series.
All of the major studios, produced both
live-action films and cartoons portraying
blacks in this manner. Stereotypes thrived on
film as comic relief.
These films are a product of their times and
while certainly not suitable for children,
they are important historical documents.
They represent a period of American history
where views were very different than they are
now.
It is also important to remember that they
were intended to be funny, not hurtful.
One does not have to look far to find many
other examples of racial stereotyping in
popular media in the first half of the 20th
century.
Radio shows, movies, and comic strips were
filled with caricatures of Blacks, Native
Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, and every
other minority.
It is to our great credit that we have
evolved as far as we have since then, but we
should preserve our history and not try to
rewrite it in some Orwellian attempt to
excise those parts of it that we now find
abhorrent.
As for the music, it is a modified version of
Cab Calloway singing "Some of These Days"
from the film soundtrack, "Forbidden Zone"
Comments are unmoderated in order that the
ignorance that still exists can be seen by
all. Tags : 16mm stereotypes race banned images cartoons buckwheat stymie farina rascals jungle jitters sambo |

I thought I would help clear up some
misleading and untrue stereotypes that gays
and lesbians have been labeled with!
1.My favorite color is not the rainbow! If I
wear a pink floyd shirt it's because I like
Pink Floyd.
2.Yes, my hair is SHORT... BUT I DON'T want
to be a boy!
3.Yes, I played with GiJOES as a kid because
GIJOES are more durable than barbies.
4.Yes, I am a tom-boy. I dress for comfort.
5.No, there isn't a handbook that we all
carry around and no we are not secretly
trying to convert you.
6. If you become confused...it's because you
aren't sure what you want. Not because I
brainwashed you and no, Ellen does not teach
a class on how to be gay!
7. Yes, I do wear polos but um...I also wear
dresses!
8. Yes, I wear sports bras...especially when
I play sports...but I also wear regular bras.
9. Yes, I do play softball BUT not all
lesbians play softball and because I play
softball that doesn't make me a butch!
10. No, I don't carry a knife on me!
11. No, I can't beat you at pool and I don't
have a motorcycle. Nor do I hang out in bars!
But I am 20!
12. Yes, I am muscular! Because I play sports
not because I want to look like a man!
13. Yes, I do SHAVE! I'm not trying to grow a
chia pet
14. Yes, I have gay friends, but I have more
straight friends than gay ones.
15. And yes, I do watch L-WORD! But, I also
watch Alias and Weeds...and Sex in the City
16. NO, I don't have any STDS. NOR do I sleep
around!
17. NO, I can't work on your automobile and
when I get a flat I call my Dad.
18. NO, I don't own flannel or plaid!
19. And no I'm not trying to recruit
you...sorry
20. I'm not trying to earn special patches
for a gay vest or something. There is no
reward. This isn't Mary Kay!
21. No, I don't hate men! I actually prefer
to have guy friends. When guys treat you like
their sister or brother it's all good...but
when girls treat you like their sister it's
all drama!
22. Yes, my voice is low...But it's not
because I am trying to be butch
23. No, I don't desire to work in
construction! NOR do I want to drive
trucks...
24. Yes, I was in the military! BUT
newsflash, that's not the best way to pick up
chicks!
25. Yes, I wear mens boxers BECAUSE they are
comfortable...straight girls wear mens boxers
too!
26. Yes, I love listening to Tegan and Sara
BUT not all lesbians like them!
27. Yes, I drink bitch beer...
28. No, I have never been to a strip club!
29. Yes, I do watch Ellen BUT, I also watch
Oprah!
30. See, I told you I wore dresses.
31. Yes, I am wearing clothes.
32. I don't consider myself butch or femme. I
consider myself casually in between.
33. No, I am not a vegetarian and no, I don't
like tofu. Um...it's kinda gross to me!
34. And no I don't own berkenstocks nor do I
plan to...I own doc Martins.
35. I think girls in uniform are HOT!
36. I don't have any rainbow tattoos BUT I do
have tattoos...Made in China (on my foot)
37. AND no I can't dance! Tags : emilythecrazy video blog homosexuality clearing up unfactual Lesbian gay stereotypes GLBT queer fag dyke butch |

What causes people to stereotype? Close
mindedness? Ignorance? A lack of
willingness to learn? More likely in most
cases a simple failure to pause for a second
to realize how ridiculous the stereotype in
question really is.
To anyone who has been stereotyped - I hope
you can identify. Moreso those from the
Caribbean.
To those who can be reached - open your minds
and spread your new enlightenment to others.
