WeAreChangeLA's Stewart Howe asks some tough
questions of Neo-Con David Frum, author and
speechwriter credited with the "Axis of Evil"
phrase, at the LA Times/UCLA Festival Of
Books on Saturday April 26th. David Frum
responds with profane suggestions and Frum
demonstrates the violent nature of the
Neocons by hitting Mr. Howe and his camera no
less then three times. Mr. Frum apparently
thinks that it is acceptable behavior to
attack people who ask questions.

| The Rolling Stones - Sweet Neo Con |

Personally i don't like this song.But the
lyrics are refering to somebody we all
know.Acording to Wikipedia:"Sweet Neo Con" is
a controversial song from the 2005 Rolling
Stones album A Bigger Bang.
The song became the focus of media scrutiny
due to featured lyrics such as:
" You call yourself a Christian; I think
that you're a hypocrite; You say you are a
patriot; I think that you're a crock of shit
"
Singer Mick Jagger initially denied the
song's lyrics were aimed directly at U.S.
President George W. Bush. In a September,
2005 interview with Rolling Stone magazine
when he was asked "Who are you singing to?",
Jagger replied, "I don't want to overexplain
it. But it is very direct. During the
presidential election, I was asked by the New
York Daily News which side I was on. I said
it's not polite to take sides in foreigners'
elections. But we're not in an election now."
Keith Richards was more cautious - "I didn't
want this to be a diversionary storm, I
thought potentially it would detract
attention from the rest of the album and be
seen as cheap publicity. We don't need that.
But I told Mick, 'If you really feel like you
want to say that, I'll back you all the
way.'"
The song itself was primarily a Jagger
composition, with Jagger performing vocals,
harmonica, bass, and guitar with Richards,
and with Charlie Watts on drums.

If you look at what Colin Powell said in
Washington Post editor Karen DeYoung's
biographical book about him. She had said
that Colin Powell had conveyed to her that
the "JINSA crowd," the Jewish Institute for
National Security Affairs, which Dick Cheney
is associated with, is control of the
Pentagon and pushed us into Iraq and now is
doing similar to get us to attack Iran.

-He comes from a family of journalists-both
his mother and sister are respected

- He drew inspiration for the "Axis of Evil"
speech from FDR's "Day of Infamy" speech
after Pearl Harbor
-At 14 he worked for a Socialist candidate
until reading Solzhenitzyn's "Gulag
Archipelago." This relates to the swinging
reactionaries of the neo-con ranks (Irving
Kristol, David Horowitz), many of whom were
pretty hard-core Marxists when they were
young. The swing from one extreme and
tyrannical obsession to another.
-He saw Saddam's aggressive wars against Iran
and Kuwait as resonant with Hitler and the
Axis in WWII. So is it also resonant that as
Prescott Bush aided the Nazis until his son
helped take them out, H.W. aided Hussein
until his soon took him out?
-He went to Yale-what does he think of secret
societies and their influence on public life
(JFK, Skull and Bones etc.)?
-Arianna Huffington, Gatekeeper Queen of the
Progressive blogosphere will interview him
-He was on Jon Stewart and insulted Ron Paul

British commentator Douglas Murray spoke at
the Hudson Institute in August 2006 on "why
neo-conservatism still matters" (his latest
is book is similarly titled
"Neo-Conservatism: Why We Need It") Here's
the transcript of this video excerpt:
Neo-conservatism is not a cabal or a
party, but rather a sense, an instinct, a way
of looking at the world. That way of looking
at the world is in my definition a blend of
idealism and realism. We look at the world as
it is, but act in the world to make it as we
would like it to be.
This makes our instincts different than
traditional conservatives, who often distrust
social engineering projects or any form of
alteration of a status quo they perpetually
see as being an irreversible if often quietly
enjoyable decline. And of course, it makes us
different from modern day liberals who simply
don't see the world as it is. I say that
neo-cons look at the world through an
idealist's eyes, but wear heavy and powerful
glasses. We're moralists with good eye-sight.
As such, I believe that neo-conservatism
is the most valuable and indeed necessary
political outlook of our time. I should point
out here that I'm not terribly worried here
about offending or alienating what you call
liberals and I call socialists — people for
whom in any case alienation-like
self-flagellation seems to be a pleasure as
well as a principle. But before offending
conservatives any further, I would like to
stress that I see old school conservatism not
as wrong in itself, but largely, merely
tactically wrong.
As primarily an instinct and almost a
non-philosophy, old-style conservatism today
has, to my mind, two major flaws. The first
is that conservatism relies on a noble sense
of loyalty to the status quo, but the status
quo, as we know in much of the West today,
has changed, especially in western
institutions and thanks to socialist
interferes, they've largely changed very much
for the worst.
This being the case, the instinctive
conservative is now often left trying to feel
loyalty to a status quo that is not his
status quo. That is, he's left trying to feel
loyal to things which have not been loyal to
him. I greatly sympathize with people caught
in this dilemma. As an Anglican, I'm like
many Anglicans today, left permanently caught
between the desire to express loyalty to what
one regards as a true faith, and at the same
time, experiencing rage and bafflement at a
church hierarchy which has thrown out the
book of common prayer, the King James bible,
and aspires, it often appears, to become like
more than Greenpeace at prayer.
