| Boosting The Body's Antioxidants To Maintain Cellular Health |
 |
The trillions of cells in our bodies produce
the energy that keeps us alive. As they
process food and oxygen to create energy,
they also release dangerous molecules called
free radicals or oxidants. These oxidants can
do a lot of damage. What happens inside our
bodies is similar to what happens to an apple
when it is cut open and exposed to oxygen: it
turns brown because oxygen is corrosive. Our
bodies have a defense mechanism in the form
of antioxidant enzymes, which neutralize free
radicals. This defense mechanism works well
until our 20's, but as we get older our cells
produce more free radicals than our defenses
can neutralize. Oxidative stress caused by
free radicals has been linked to over 200
illnesses, so this is a major medical
concern. Some experts predict that people
will soon monitor their oxidative stress as
routinely as they are now monitor
cholesterol.
Scientists have been researching ways to
boost our natural antioxidant enzymes. A diet
rich in fruits and vegetables helps, but many
experts say it's not enough. This segment
discusses a nutritional supplement called
Protandim, which has been shown to be very
effective in maintaining cellular health.
Protandim contains 5 herbs that have been
used in ayurvedic medicine for centuries.
After 3 months of taking this supplement, a
78 year old man was tested and his cellular
health was shown to be similar to that of a
20 year old. Tags : "cellular health" "healthy aging" antioxidants "free radicals" "oxidative stress" TBARS Protandim longevity |

| Dr Whiting on Antioxidants and Free Radical Prevention |
 |
Science has identified a large group of
molecules as the cause of many problems with
aging in the human body. These 'altered
molecules' are called free radicals and they
are responsible for premature aging of the
skin, internal deterioration, and even
genetic mutative damage. Free radicals are
formed in the body both naturally and to
excess, by the ingestion of chemical
compounds from food, air and water. Free
radical control is essential to retard the
ravaging effects of aging. Antioxidants,
which are made up of select vitamins,
minerals, amino acids, and other natural
compounds such as lycopene, leutein, milk
thistle, and alpha lipoic acid, have the
ability to prevent oxidation of tissues and
chemicals, thus preventing the formation of
free radicals in the process. Antioxidants
may be divided into two groups, firstly those
that prevent the formation of free radicals
and those that actually seek out and destroy
existing free radicals. An ideal antioxidant
formulation would include members from each
of these two groups. While we are discovering
new antioxidants substances regularly,
selenium, vitamin A and the more specific
antioxidants such as lycopene, leutein, milk
thistle, and alpha lipoic acid make up the
foundation of most good antioxidant formulas.
Michael Murray, a leading antioxidant
researcher has often said that by combining
key antioxidants together, we can achieve
greater overall free radical protection.
Because of this, we have developed a powerful
combination of antioxidants, which we have
found to be very helpful in lowering free
radical activity in the body. This
specialized formula is made for us by Phoenix
Nutritionals. In addition to the baseline
antioxidants, we also use heavy hitting free
radical fighters such as lycopene, leutein,
milk thistle and alpha lipoic acid. Through
the right dosage and combination of
antioxidant nutrients, we can reduce the
dangers of free radical activity in the body
considerably. Tags : antioxidants free radicals lycopene leutein milk thistle alpha lipoic acid Dr Whiting scavengers healthyinformation.com |

| Organic Raw Chocolate Contains More Antioxidants Than Processed Dark Chocolate |

Dutch researchers indicate that dark
chocolate contains four times the amount of
catechin antioxidants than black tea. With
Raw Cacao Powder, it would be 28 times more
than Black Tea and potentially 7 times the
protection!
In trials, doctors at Harvard found that
Antioxidant compounds called Flavonols in
chocolate help the body to produce Nitric
Oxide, a compound essential for proper heart
function. (Nitric oxide is also believed by
some bodybuilders to help increase
muscularity). Again, with Raw Cacao Powder,
this effect could easily be multiplied.
There are many more examples than I could
ever list here!
You get the point. Just remember this figure
of roughly 723% (or 7 times) when you read
about the health benefits of dark chocolate
—And not only that...
because it's concentrated, our Raw Organic
Cacao Powder has at least 33% more of many of
cacao's most vital nutrients!
In Raw Cacao Powder, much of the oil is
removed, while nearly all of the active
nutrients remain. For example...
Did you know the amino acid Tryptophan is
found naturally in cacao. Tryptophan enhances
relaxation and promotes better sleep? Now
you'll get at least 33% more tryptophan when
you use Raw Cacao Powder!
Researchers have discovered that
phenylethylamine (PEA) has a positive effect
in enhancing feelings of falling in LOVE! And
Chocolate has been proven to be an excellent
source of PEA. Now you can love at least 33%
more with Raw Cacao Powder!
Cacao is the richest food source of
magnesium of any common food. Magnesium is
the number one mineral that assists and
supports healthy heart functioning. Now you
get at least 33% more magnesium gram-per-gram
with Raw Cacao Powder!
Raw Cacao Powder has at least 33% more
Arginine, the aphrodisiac-like amino acid
believed by body builders to build muscle and
aid in recovery.
