| Kodak Z1085 IS - 10MP Camera Review #1 |
 |
View my HD videos, YouTube needs to update
this site to accept HD quality, so go here
for better qualities:
My Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/seboyd2000
I've owned a few of the (newer/low cost)
Kodak Easyshare products and my favorite
camera to this point is the Z1275. Upon
arrival of Z1085-IS from Amazon (my cost
$179), I noticed the camera packaging seemed
to be a little off and things shook inside
the box, even though the box was sealed and
undamaged. Normally all products from Amazon
have been good for me, including 3rd party
products that I've ordered.
I un-packaged, loaded the included battery,
then did a quick setup on date, picture size,
etc. A great thing about this camera is it
can use all types of AA batteries,
rechargables are probably the best and
longest lasting, I've found. (but this camera
just never seemed right from the get-go with
me..)
Next I tried the video recording... indoors
(which is this video), and you can see that
it seems to have a problem with the
auto-focus, especially when using the zoom
feature (excuse my shakiness). The HD size
(1280) is nice though and the image
stabilization seem to be a lot better than
the Z1275 version (which doesn't have IMAGE
STAB). The movie mode records in .MOV file
types, and another thing that I noticed is
the movie files seem to be locked to the card
(initially) and cannot be deleted unless you
install the KODAK software then open files in
it and delete the files through the software,
or FORMAT the card. This can be a pain in the
ass, when you want to just remove the SD
card, and pop it in you card reader, then
delete the files from the card, which is the
fastest way to transfer files... for me. I
did try a computer restart, and then I could
delete the files.
Next I took a few pictures, both indoors and
outdoors (10MP), and in camparison to the
Z1275 (12MP), they were not as good. So
overall I will probably return this camera
for a refund, and order the Z1285 (which
doesnt have Optical Image Stabilization, but
Digital Stab, which isnt as good). I've
loaded a few more videos to check out and I
will also load then to the VIMEO.com website,
so you can see them in true HD, not the
YouTube reduced version videos...

Next I tried video recording... (this video
came out to 49MB in a .mov file format). But
I decided to covert it to a .divx file using
Dr. Divx and it dropped the size down to 14MB
and uploads quicker to VIMEO.com and saves me
space on my account here. Dr Divx seem to
convert it over and upheld the HD quality...
what do you think?
Notes:
-------
I noticed the audio seems to record a little
low in volume.
Videos always go blurry when using the zoom
adjustments.

View My High Def videos:

The new Kodak Z1275 digital camera, which can
do 1280 High Definition quality videos.
This test video that is about 40mb & 40
seconds long in the 1280 video setting. The
video quality on YouTube, doesn't look near
as good. I think when they are processing the
upload, they compress even more & drop the
original quality a bunch. On my computer this
video looks more than twice as good in
quality, its sharper, with hardly any
blurriness.
For a $200.00 camera, it really does get very
good quality HD videos, I'm happy with it. As
on all videos, when filming, slow down all
your movements & actions to increase your
film quality..
I don't think the camera has a stabilization
option when recording videos (thats why u get
some shakiness in them), but kodaks newest
camera, (Kodak Z1085 IS) has image
stabilization. All my other videos have been
made using this Kodak Z1275 camera, so you
can see more examples by viewing my other
videos, some are with the camera mounted n a
tripod.
I did a search on YouTube for keywords:
(Kodak z1275) & found a video that compares
this camera's video with real video
camcorders & it holds up very well to 2 other
nearly $1500 comcorders :) me likey...

| 2007 Custom Fender Strat Build |
 |
See HD vids here:
http://www.vimeo.com/seboyd2000/videos
This is my recent guitar I built, it's a
Custom made US Fender Stratocastor (Cost:
aprx $600). I wanted a Triple Black (color)
version with the old 70s style (Large print)
neck, and that type of guitar currently isn't
available in a US made Fender version... to
date.
The loaded pickguard electronics are
greasebucket guts that were pulled out of a
2006 Fender Highway One guitar (when it was
new & then shelved), I got it on ebay for
$90.. a fully loaded USA pickguard complete..
wow! It came with a white colored pickguard,
but everything else in it was black in color
(pickups, knobs, etc).
The new 22 fret, USA Fender neck cost me $285
on ebay, the 3rd party black HSS Pickguard
was $20 on ebay (I wanted a real Fender black
HSS, but they dont sell them... why? Someone
really needs to get a better fender store
together at their website, it currently
sucks!). I had the body and the rest of the
stuff.
I'm playing it through...

| EasyCap |
 |
Here is an example of the product and a
couple of short videos I captured from a TV
feed tonight.
I bought this product on www.ebay.com for
around $20 (just do a search for EasyCap).
These products are shipped in from China and
can take a couple of weeks to arrive, but I
order a lot of new tech products from China
and have always gotten the product without
failure.
Basically the USA gets everything from China
anyways for our local stores, so I just cut
out the middle man and get my products
cheaper & faster.
This usnit plugs into your computer USB 2.0
port and the allows you to connect either RCA
(audio/video) cable for recording things like
live TV, video cameras, and other sources.
The max aspect ratio is 720x480 at 30fps
So for the cost its small, easy to use, and
setup. Tags : seboyd2000 easycap tv recorder kodak Z1085 |
