SkyscraperPreview of World's First Rotating
SkyscraperThe Associated PressArchitect Dr.
David Fisher unveiled the Dynamic Tower, the
world's first building in motion. The rotate
skyscrapers, which are planned worldwide,
have floors which rotate independently to
create a building that constantly changes
shape. (June 24)Is it the skyscraper of the
future? Or just a "pie in the
sky" idea? Italian architect David
Fisher unveiled in New York the design for
what he's calling the world's first "building
in motion." It's an 80-story
residential tower with revolving floors,
ostensibly set for construction in Dubai this
fall. ((David Fisher,
Architect)) "It's the first
building that is dynamic, changing its'
shape. You can adjust the shape any given
moment." Fisher says he is also
slated to build one of the "dynamic"
buildings in Moscow, and, he hopes, New York
City. He says the buildings also
double as power generators: wind turbines on
every floor will provide power.
"Wind has a very negative affect on
skyscrapers we all know. So I say 'why do we
want to fight the wind?' Why don't we use the
wind, to our own benefit? The
Dubai condos are going for three-thousand
dollars a square foot. Lifts will
allow penthouse residents to park their cars
right in their apartments. Fisher
says the building parts will be prefabricated
in a factory in Italy then assembled at the
final location. The architect
says he'd like to have the Dubai building
ready to live in by 2010. Ted

| Mova Rotating World Globe |
 |
Check out this rotating world globe, it has
no batteries and does not plug in, it is
powered by light, the light in your house or
office! It comes in different colors. To
view the globe for purchase go to
www.ultimateglobes.com.
About the Mova Globe
The world's most advanced globe, the MOVA
globe rotates silently and is inspired by the
earth itself. It requires no power cords or
batteries, only the natural light of your
home or office. The three-fingered acrylic
base is included with every MOVA globe.
How the Mova Globe Works
The MOVA globe rotates peacefully and
silently using only the energy of room light
and the force of the earth's magnetic field.
This is possible because the MOVA globe is
actually an inner globe that rotates and is
contained within an outer shell made of very
clear acrylic that does not rotate. The thin
space between the inner globe and outer shell
is filled with a safe, perfectly clear fluid
that buoyantly supports the inner globe
completely out of contact with the outer
shell. This inner globe, floating and turning
in a virtually friction-free environment and
energized by light, is analogous to the earth
itself. The MOVA globe is being brought to
market at a time when people everywhere will
understand and appreciate this analogy.
The optical properties of the outer sell and
fluid are carefully chosen so that the
graphic features on the surface of the inner
globe are magnified and appear to be on the
outer surface of the outer shell. This means
that the outer shell actually appears to
move.
The MOVA globe can rest on an attractive
three fingered stand that is provided, or on
just about any other kind of stand that can
be chosen to complement it's graphic design.
The MOVA globe appears to rotate in spite of
resting on the stand, in quiet defiance of
commonly held ideas about the laws of
friction.
A carefully designed, and highly efficient
drive mechanism within the inner globe drives
the rotation even in room light. Energy for
the drive is provided by very advanced solar
cells within the inner globe, illuminated by
light passing through the graphic on the
globe. The drive includes a magnetic element
that reacts with the earth's magnetic field,
much as a common compass does, to provide
torque to drive the globe.
All of these elements of the MOVA globe
cooperate to create a beautiful, magical
object that provides a meditative point of
focus to any room. Tags : Globe globes world levitating floating spinning |

| Dubai and Moscow's Moving Skyscrapers |
 |
NOTE: I did not make this video. It is the
video produced by the architectural firm
behind this building.
--
David Fisher's company 'Dynamic Architecture'
have developed a moving skyscraper! The
building will be made up of 80 floors, with
an apartment on each floor.
The rotating building is made possible by 79
giant power-generating wind turbines.
As well as the rotation, the wind turbines
will also provide enough energy to power the
entire building and feed extra energy back
into the grid.
There are two buildings planned at the
moment. One in Dubai and one in Moscow. The
Dubai building is planned to be up and
running by 2010.
