This is my favorite part from one of my
favorite movies "Pocahontas". John Smith (Mel
Gibson) calls Pocahontas (Irene Bedard,
singing voice: Judy Kuhn) and her people for
"savages", so she sings this song to him.

The song NOT included in the theatrical
release of the film, "If I Never Knew You,"
though put into the release of the 10th
Anniversary Edition DVD.
I love this song, and I am SO glad they put
it back in. Makes the whole scene much more
effective. Also, this is my first Youtube
upload, soo...Yay me! And if you notice the
audio to be a little crackly, I do apologize.
[EDIT] To answer some of the questions in the
comments, this song was originally intended
for the film and was almost finished, when
Disney ran the movie (with the song) to a few
test audience, and the younger--read, the
kid--audience pretty much started squirming
during this song, probably wanting to get
back to the action. However, the song
performed well with the teen and adult
audiences. (Taken from the SE DVD's
commentary.)
Also, YES, that is Mel Gibson singing. He
also does all of the rest of John Smith's
singing in the movie. Surprising, I know.
If you doubt, just listen to the speaking
voice. Same vocal quality. Sure, Judy Kuhn
sings the pants off him, but he's not bad.

I think I did a good job on this one, but I
guess you all will have to be the judge of
that. A while ago I thought this song and
Pocahontas would make a good video, but then
I thought it wouldn't work well...that is
until my 10th Aniversary Edition of
Pocahontas came in the mail. Now its great!
Though I have to admit the beginning was a
tough to fit. Anyways I hope you like this
one. I think its quite good and I really
wanted to make a Pocahontas vid ^^ The black
and white clips are her "Memories" okay?
The Lyrics(in case you can't understand her
extremly high voice...I know I couldn't from
time to time ^_^)

Pocahontas era uma das minhas histórias
preferidas de infância. Eu deixava-me
fascinar por aquela Ãndia e pela sua paixão
por John Smith, cantava as músicas de cor e
salteado, imitava a sua maneira de andar...
Enfim, Pocahontas foi uma verdadeira heroÃna
para mim e descobri que continua a ser.
Passado tanto tempo, fui vasculhar as minhas
cassetes antigas, pus-me a ver o vÃdeo e dei
comigo de lágrimas nos olhos por perceber
coisas que não percebia na altura e por me
aperceber do quão a história é sublime e
tem uma mensagem tão forte!
Decidi deixar aqui a letra, para quem não a
perceber:
