Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss his
book "The Moment It Clicks." McNally is an

mid-1990s Joe served as Life magazine's staff
photographer, the first one in 23 years. He
also has shot commercial assignments for
Target, Nikon, and Sony, to name a few.
Joe is a recipient of the Alfred Eisenstaedt
Award and has been honored by Pictures of the
Year International, World Press Photo, The
Art Directors Club, American Photo,
Communication Arts, and Graphis. He conducts
numerous workshops around the world as part
of his teaching activities. One of Joe's most
notable projects, Faces of Ground Zero —
Giant Polaroid Collection, has become known
as one of the most significant artistic
responses to the tragedy at the World Trade

Jason Mraz performing "The Dreamlife of Rand
McNally" at Java Joe's 2002.06.27 (11/23)
These are the videos that started Uncle
Crispy Productions... one thursday night we
brought 2 cameras to a show, the next day the
first Uncle Crispy video was edited, and the
rest is history. This was one of the last
times the band performed at Java Joes without
mics. This was also Jason's second show after
having recorded his Elektra Album, so some of
the songs were still new. It is a classic
Java Joe's show, just Jason, Toca & Ian and a
coffee shop full of fans!

Joe McNally has been described as one of the
the most versatile photojournalist working
today. He is known within the industry for
his ability to produce technically and
logistically complex assignments with expert
use of color and light. He began producing
assignments for LIFE in 1984, and was a
contract photographer at Sports Illustrated
for several years. He has photographed cover
stories for LIFE, TIME, Newsweek, National
Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, and
New York Magazine.
Joe is regularly honored with awards and
citations. In 1986, he received a Page One
Award from the Newspaper Guild of New York.
The National Press Photographers Association
(NPPA) has granted him numerous Pictures of
the Year awards including First Place in
Magazine Illustration in 1988 and First Place
in Magazine Product Illustration in 1993. In
1996, the World Press Photo Foundation
honored him with a Third Prize in People in
the News.
His latest assignment is working for Nikon,
testing and photographing the new full-frame
D3, which Calumet will be shipping in
November. The D3 is a new digital SLR camera
that is poised to once again revolutionize
photography for professionals. The 12.1
effective megapixel D3 features Nikon's new
FX-format CMOS sensor, measuring 23.9 x 36mm,
which is nearly identical to the size of 35mm
film. With the fastest startup time, shortest
viewfinder blackout time, and shortest
shutter lag of any digital SLR camera as well
as the capability to shoot up to nine frames
per second at full FX-format resolution, the
D3 is the world's fastest digital SLR camera
in its class. Tags : Joe McNally Nikon D3 Calumet Photo News PhotoPlus B&H Adorama Samy's Samys |

Shannon McNally from her CD "Ran on Pure
Lightning".
I was lucky enough to see her perform the
other day. Born in NJ, raised on Long Island
then head out to make her own way.
With her voice, talent and stunning natural
beauty I believe we will be hearing a lot
more from this performer.
I was very impressed....
Best of Luck Shannon.... Tags : Shannon McNally Country |

Jason Mraz singing "The Dreamlife of Rand
McNally" live at Java Joe's 2004.01.06
(04/04)
While taking a break from touring, Jason made
a pitstop in San Diego to visit some old
friends and grab a pint at Java Joe's new
pub. Coincidentally it was open mic night, so
Jason and Pete Thurston picked up some
guitars and played for a crowd of 30 people.
Toca joined them on stage for the last two
songs. Special thanks to Tyler for recording
and providing the audio!
