This incident was video recorded by Simon
Lowe. 233 people where on board this jet
bound for Lanzarote. The number 2 engine
sucks in one bird (a crow or corvid) as the
plane rotates off the runway.
T.V. news reports of two herons being sucked
in are wrong.
Congratulations to the crew and air-traffic
controllers for the calm and professional way
they dealt with the situation. Please

for reference (sorry for poor quality!),
compare terminals and other landmarks to see
how quick the acceleration and how steep the
takeoff were. Even with the displaced
threshold, rotating at the piano keys is
rare! United 757 to Denver.

July 1, 2002, Bashkirian Airlines Flight
2937, registration RA-85816, was a Tupolev
154M passenger jet en route from Moscow,
Russia to Barcelona, Spain. DHL Flight 611,
registration A9C-DHL, was a Boeing 757-200
cargo jet flying from Bergamo, Italy to
Brussels, Belgium. The two aircraft collided
in mid-air on at 21:35 (UTC) over
Ãœberlingen, Germany (near Lake Constance),
killing all 71 aboard both aircraft. German
investigators determined that the accident
had been caused by problems within the air
traffic control system[1]; and the controller
who was on duty at the time, Peter Nielsen,
was later stabbed to death by an architect
who lost his wife and both of his children in
the accident.

| American 757 takeoff St. Martin |

St. Martin airport has a beach just 20 feet
from the edge of the main runway. There are
signs telling people you can be killed by
being to close to a airplane taking off. I
was sure I was smarter than that since I am a
pilot and actually flew a 757 into the
island. I was standing slightly upwind of
the port engine when this AA 757 started it's
takeoff. It was actually hilarious, you can
see in the video as I get blown right off my
feet. Nobody was hurt filming this video.
